Recipe of the Week- Chocolate Tiffin

Chocolate Tiffin    (no baking required)


  • 200g/8oz digestive biscuit
  • 100g/4oz butter
  • 3tbsp golden syrup
  • 100g/4oz dried fruit (use a mix of currants, raisons, apricots, sultanas or cranberries- whatever you have in your cupboard)
  • 2tbsp cocoa powder
  • Topping- 100g/4oz dark chocolate



  •  Grease and line a 18cm/7in square cake tin
  •  Put biscuits in strong plastic bag- bash with rolling pin until crumbs
  •  Melt butter and syrup in a pan
  •  Add cocoa powder, fruit and biscuit crumbs
  • Spoon into tin and press down firmly
  • Melt chocolate in a heatproof bow over hot water. Spread over chilled base.
  • Chill for 2 hours. Cut into slices and serve (can be frozen)
